Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" DOes this refer to the FIRI intercalibration exercise conducted by Glasgow University? Labs that took part in the intercalibration should have received a summary of the initial results, to see how they stacked up against everyone else. A workshop to discuss the exercise has just been held in Edinburgh, and presumably the outcome of this will be notified shortly. If the results of the 2000 intercalibration study of radiocarbon labs have been published, could someone please supply the reference(s)? If not, does anyone know when and where they will appear? An update on FIRI (the most recent C-14 laboratory inter- comparison). As Rodger Sparks replied, all participating labs should have received a copy of the original data for checking to ensure that the database holds the correct information. Over 92 laboratories have participated and at the end of March, a workshop was held in Edinburgh, where there was a series of presentations of the preliminary analyses of the results and an opportunity for discussion and debate. Not all the laboratories were able to be represented at the workshop, but who those who could not will shortly receive the papers from the workshop and a report on the discussions. At the same time, we have begun discussion with Radiocarbon about an issue devoted to FIRI, realistically this would not appear till some time in 2002, but a brief workshop report and overall summary will appear before this. It is our goal to disseminate the information from FIRI as widely as possible within the laboratory and user communities. The report summarises the preliminary findings and consensus values for the samples. Please note these are preliminary findings and further analysis of the results is underway and will be reported in a special issue of the journal Radiocarbon.
