One was from Oxford University, England and the other from Cheikh Anta Diop University at Dakar, Senegal. After presentations from both groups, the meeting agreed to decide on the next venue by email vote, to be concluded by 1 November 2003. Registration of votes is now open, and eligible voters should send an email to 14Conf-info@gns.cri.nz with "Conference 2006 venue" in the subject line. Do NOT directly reply to this message. In the body of the email indicate your preference by simply stating "Dakar" or "Oxford". For your vote to count you must also include your name and institutional affiliation. The rules under which the voting takes place are as follows: 1. Votes will be accepted up to 1 November 2003 2. The venue will be decided on a simple majority of the votes received. 3. Eligible voters are 1) those who registered and attended at least one of the last three 14C Conferences (Groningen, Jerusalem, Wellington); 2) authors and co-authors of presentations made to at least one of the last three 14C Conferences, where presentation includes orals and posters. Copies of the presentations made by the two candidates can be seen on the 2003 Conference web-site, at www.14Conference2003.co.nz Rodger Sparks /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Rafter Radiocarbon Laboratory, Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences, 30 Gracefield Road, PO Box 31-312, Lower Hutt, New Zealand.
